LAURENT DUFOUR
« Pacific Dreams »
From December 2nd to the 7th, 2025, for its fourth participation at Design Miami, the gallery Lefebvre & Fils marks the fair’s 20th anniversary with a striking new project created entirely in the United States: a monumental installation of five large-scale sculptures by Laurent Dufour. The sculptures — Blue Figure, Bird, Family, Bear, and Girl — stand at 2 meters high, with one reaching 2.20 meters. Each work was fired in a single session, a rare and demanding process made possible by exceptionally large kilns, thanks to Chris Miles, Director of the Ceramics Department at Long Beach University.
Created specifically for an American audience, this installation highlights Dufour’s ongoing exploration of archetypal shapes, forgotten traditions, and the myths that shape our cultures.
Influenced by archaeology, ritual art, and ancient civilizations — as well as the pull between spirituality and materialism today — Dufour uses ceramics as a medium for memory and transformation. His totemic sculptures suggest universal stories and create a sense of continuity between people and the world around them. Their surfaces, sometimes raw and sometimes glazed, catch the light like weathered skin, alive with subtle, earthy tones.
